The Do’s And Dont’s Of BL OGGING

Do’s and Don’ts Of BLOGGING

Blogging 6

Hello Everyone!!

This blog post is definitely for all the bloggers, new bloggers, and some refresher tips for all the bloggers who have been in the blogging game for a WHILE now!! Blogging, like with anything else for that matter, comes with certain “do’s” and “dont’s” if you want to make you blog noticed, or even eventually successful.

Now, I’m in NO ways, saying that my blog is successful, lol, I’m not there yet, but there are rules you can establish for your blog, to remind you to keep on the right track from time to time… ❀

WHAT TO “DO”!

  • DO- “LET YOUR PERSONALITY SHINE THROUGH”

The one great thing you could do for your blog is to let your personality shine through your blog. Connect with your readers/followers in a way that makes them think that just by reading what you’re saying, they can picture HOW you would be saying it (actions/mannerisms etc). If you are naturally funny, let your blog posts have the conversationalist tone, with jokes here and there. Essentially, make you blog “approachable”, something that would make the reader STAY.

  • DO- “SET GOALS, OBJECTIVES OF WHAT YOU WANT FROM YOUR BLOG”

Very important. Look, at the end of the day, it still is YOUR blog, and you can write about whatever you like, but if you take your blogging quite seriously, set objectives and goals of what you want to achieve and when. So, how many times a week you want to post blog posts. What content you want to focus on, or what kind of audience you would like to reach. Plan- have an editorial calendar. That kind of thing.

  • DO- “PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR READERS, ENGAGE WITH THEM, ANSWER THEIR QUESTIONS”.

This you MUST remember. Get into your readers shoes, and get to know them a little. If they comment on your posts, be sure to respond and engage with them, and if they are also bloggers (which many times they are), go follow their blog too. Show some interest in the people that come to read your content. If you make someone feel that you acknowledge them and appreciate their input, they are more likely to come back. So ENGAGE.

  • DO- “SPEND TIME AWAY FROM YOUR BLOG, MAKE REAL FRIENDS, GO OUT”

Ever hear the saying “too much of anything can be bad for you”. Same goes with this. As much a blogging is great (well, lol, on MOST days), it is also very isolating. Bloggers live lonely lives, if they don’t do anything else besides blogging. It is important to engage with other people. Feed your mind with different information, it will open up your brain to new and different ideas for your blog, while making you the sociable person too . πŸ™‚

WHAT NOT TO DO!!

With everything that you must DO for your blog, there’s equally the same amount of DONT’S when it comes to your blog too!

  • DON’T- “FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE TO PUBLISH SOMETHING EVERYDAY”

Blogging doesn’t necessarily work that way. If you put a lot of time and energy into your blog, you will know that QUALITY defeats QUANTITY on ANY given day. So, it’s not necessary to post everyday. Your readers will stick with you, even if you disappear for a month, they wont leave if they love your content. So, do not feel pressured to publish something everyday. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.

  • DON’T- “STRETCH YOURSELF TOO THIN”

Do not post too many times, on so many different types of content and subjects that your blog doesn’t really follow a theme. Focus on what you know and do well, and let that content be the driving force behind your blog. If you love beauty- then do only beauty posts that you can stretch out to reviews, hauls, new-in, that kind of thing. If its a lifestyle blog, pick a lifestyle theme you love, and stick with it.

  • DON’T- “COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS, YOU SHOULD BE YOUR ONLY COMPARISON”

If you are a blogger, and you follow a lot of bloggers, you can find yourself comparing your blog to another bloggers blog. Dangerous, do NOT do this. Compare your blog NOW, to your blog THEN, and see how far you have come! If you’re blog still looks and feels the same, then its time to do a blog CLEAN UP and change your outlook. But if it looks a lot better, more crisp and appealing, then you are DEFINITELY doing something right! Too many times bloggers compare their blogs to another bloggers blog, and end up disheartened thinking that, that person’s blog is so much better, when really all that should be focused on, is your blog, and where you want to take it. If you cant stop comparing, then don’t look at other bloggers blogs. Period.

  • DON’T- “DON’T GIVE UP”

Contrary to what others may think, blogging is actually A LOT harder than it looks, ESPECIALLY if you take it seriously. There is setting up content, collating and bringing together photos, cleaning the photos up with fonts and prints. Doing research and being knowledgeable about what you write, especially if you’re not familiar with the content. Sometimes it CAN get a little overwhelming. Don’t give up though. Blogging takes time, and lots of work. πŸ™‚ So forge on, and keep going!

That’s it for now!!! There’s many other pointers I can talk about, but that will be up to you guys if you want me to do another post on “do’s and dont’s of blogging”. You guys will let me know! πŸ™‚

Do you have any other suggestions of what to do, and what NOT to do when bogging?

I hope you liked it!

Until the next one,

Live in Light and Love ❀

    1. Eish, friendships suffer when you have to be busy with work/school during the week and then you must blog and film videos over the weekend. I make time for my friends, but it’s definitely not as much as it used to be 😦 sadly… However, there are times when you need to pull yourself towards yourself, and remember that you still have a life to live outside of blogging and filming! So very important!!! Lol, just so you can borrow your friends PC’s, lol… How will you do that if you hardly see them? LOL.
