FINDING YOUR BALANCE
I have been noticing that lately I hardly find any time to myself. I’m either at work, if not, I’m recording something for our YouTube Channel (Beauty Corner SA), or doing some work for the blog. I have noticed that I hardly ever find myself “idling” and not actually DOING anything.
As a working woman, you are always on the go, you have work, hobbies, family, relationships to work on and maintain and SOMEWHERE in between all of that you have to strike a balance, and also have time for yourself. Wheeeewwww! How though?! You can’t even tell that you’re constantly on the go, because it has become a norm for you. The only time your brain gets to actually REST is when you are sleeping.
All work no play makes you an unhappy person…
There must be time to rest. To relax. To have time to do things that you want to do, to recharge and reboot your system. To remember what you enjoy most about being you.
An important system to always implement in your life is knowing to strike that balance. Lol, and believe me, I’m not there yet, I’m still very bad at this, but I’ve just recently started, and I’m forcing myself to be “completely in it”, to make it work! Strike the balance that can make you a more productive person, but also keep you in tune with all the things you like about yourself, things you LOVE about yourself. It is also very important for your relationships with other people. 🙂
STEPS TO CREATE THAT BALANCE…
Where to start…
This one is SOOOO important!! We live in the information age(Do people still call it that? lol). Our lives are so fused with technology that technology is with us when we’re awake, and still with us when we’re asleep. Our phones, television, tablets, gadgets. We are glued to them ALL day. I’m 110% guilty of this, I am always either in front of my laptop, I’m always ALWAYS looking at my phone, or watching something on TV. This is why it is so important to SWITCH OFF for a little while. Switch off your phone when you get home from work. Ok, maybe a little too extreme? Fine, silence it for a while. So you don’t have to hear the sounds of the emails, whatsapp, facebook, instagram notifications coming in. 2 two hours to dedicate to doing whatever you need to without looking at your phone. More especially important if you have company, if you live with your partner, family or if you have friends over. Switch off. Give some attention to those that mean a lot to you. 🙂
LIMIT TALKING ABOUT WORK WITH YOUR PARTNER OR FAMILY
Find time to spend with the ones you love where you DON’T want to be talking about work, or the new project you are working on. Your life doesn’t comprise of only work and work…! Lol, no! Find time to LAUGH, TALK, PLAY with the ones you love. You must connect with the ones you love on a deeper level that has nothing to do with your WOMAN/MAN boss career. Those people are there for you, not how well you can pull off a corporate speech, or do their books. No. Find time to do the things that nurse your soul, and make you feel better about your life. ❤
PLAN YOUR RELAXING TIME INTENTIONALLY
Make sure to plan your downtime! Plan a trip and DON’T cancel it, or postpone it! If you love to hang out and go out with friends, DO THAT. Do not cancel because you are busy. If it’s not a deadline, it can wait for a few hours. If you have taken on a new hobby, don’t miss the days you have scheduled for it. Just like you plan and schedule your work and your meetings, you can also plan and schedule the time allocated for YOU, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR OWN TIME- WITHOUT THE INTERRUPTION OF WORK. Keep to this plan. This just may be what you need in order to relax and reboot so you can come back to work with a fresh mind, thats ready to go!!!
