“Mauritius was made first, and then heaven, and heaven was copied after Mauritius”
– Mark Twain
Couldn’t agree with Mark Twain more!
Blogger friend, Lungi from Bylungi.com [here] made me bite a couple of weeks ago, when she spoke about liking to see a blog post on my blog about my trip to Mauritius. LOL, doll, I’m doing this one for you.
I went to Mauritius with my family on our yearly family vacations in December ( if you are black, you know that black families love to travel in December, lol, it’s a thing, lol). We did that too. In December 2012, we flew to Mauritius, and it was my first time being on a 4 hour long flight. (LOL, it might seem like nothing to some people, however to me it was a daunting experience, as I am not a fan of flying, at all, til this very day, lol)
So you can imagine, on this day, I wasn’t in the best of spirits. Looking at this picture alone, unsettles me, lol. Moving on…
We eventually arrived in BEAUTIFUL Mauritius four hours later and the magic that greeted us, was something out of a photoshoped picture. After from the whif of humid air that greeted us as soon as the plane doors opened, we had no idea what awaited us until the following morning… 🙂
We stayed at the beautiful Le Victoria Hotel, on an all inclusive package which meant food and drinks FOR DAYS… (Even when I left that place I felt like I was 10kgs heavier!lol) Too much eating!!!On the West Coast of Mauritius, Le Victoria is situated right in the middle of the tourist destinations of Grand Baie and Port Louis. This hotel was AMAZING. A big hotel, which you had something to do, every single day.
The water in Mauritius, goodness, walking out to the beach, and I would just stand there, and be in awe of God’s beautiful work. It is nothing short of breathtaking 🙂
Many days were spent by the beach, sipping on Cocktails in short dresses and skirts! That’s what a holiday was all about right?
Walking Around Grand Baie…
On one of the days there, we went to Grand Baie, which was about 10-15 mins from the hotel, and took a walk around the town, taking in the sights and sounds- the hustle and bustle of the town. We ended up having lunch at “Sunset Cafe” where we had the best seafood (prawns and fish)- which tasted better (I mean obviously, we were by the sea! lol).
We stayed there for 9 days, and it was honestly one of the best trips I’ve taken to date! 🙂
SPECTACULAR SUNSETS… ❤
We used to go the beach every night, to take in the sunsets. They were spectacular in EVERY sense of the word. The whole skyline would turn orange/red and wow, it was a sight!
That’s it for this version of travel diaries… I will be leaving again on another adventure in a day, and there will surely be a travel dairies post up soon!! 🙂
Lungi, this one was for you! 🙂
Until the next one,
Live in Light and Love ❤
