CONFESSIONS OF A BLOGGER!
When did you start blogging?
I started blogging about 2 years ago. Let me explain this: I had a Tumblr account about two years ago, but I officially started my own blog on the 4th of January 2015. So I have been officially a blogger for a year and 3 months… 🙂
Have you had any other online presence before?
Well, apart from the usual Facebook and Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr there was no other definitive online presence.
What was your first post?
My first post was called “New Year, New Hopes, Dreams… :)”. You can find it here. I read it and I cringe a little, lol. It’s strange to read what I said over a year ago!
When did you become serious about your blog?
I think when I started, my blog posts were very sporadic. I would blog twice, maybe three times a month and I wasn’t so completely “into” it. However, when I switched domains from Blogger to WordPress and having my own domain (which was a few months ago, I decided to consciously take blogging more seriously, as I really did enjoy doing it. 🙂
Biggest challenge about blogging?
Goodness there’s just so many things! initially it was feeling like I would be the only one who reads and writes my blog posts. I felt like as much as I wanted this platform to do it for myself, share my thoughts and ideas, it would be nice to at least get one “view” or follower. It drops your confidence in your blog. Also time was a challenge as I had work, and hadn’t really known how to manage my blog, with my schedule… That took a lot more time, but EVENTUALLY I got it right!
Where do you see your blog in one year?
Truthfully, I would love to reach a larger viewer base. I love how my blog has grown, especially in the last 2 months..! However I want my blog to be the place where any one can come and have a chat with me, as I give them an insight into some of the things that I love. I would love it to get a lot bigger than it is now, while keeping with the conversationalist “talking to a friend” relaxed tone that my followers and blogger friends are already used to! Also hope to develop a lot more friends in the blogging world. 🙂
What is the most rewarding thing to you about blogging?
I love the calmness that blogging brings. I love sharing with other people the things I love in the beauty and lifestyle world. Every time I feel a tad stressed out, I blog. It relaxes me- except when I know that I have to release a blog post soon and I haven’t a CLUE what to blog about!!! LOL! Communicating with people of similar interests, or having people respond or message me by telling me how they love to read my blog, or how some message on my blog has helped them a particular way, then THAT really inspires me to keep going 🙂
What is the most discouraging thing?
Up until now, nothing really. I blog because I LOVE it. I know certain people will judge me for it, or probably get frustrated with the amount of times in a week I have a blog post up (which is often 4-5 times a week!lol ), but truthfully it doesn’t bother me. Anyone can easily unfollow, or say what they want to say, but I know what a good thing it is for me mentally, and how much blog followers love reading my posts. I do it for myself and them. 🙂
Lasting inspiration and motivation?
One of the biggest things that motivates me when it comes to blogging, is other bloggers in the same niche, but over and above that, in South Africa, I haven’t picked up a lot of Black Female Bloggers that do this (Beauty and Lifestyle). There is a small niche, but not that many, and a big part of me feels like I am part of a much bigger picture that will one day be something huge in terms of black female SA bloggers! (I’m hopeful! ). I draw inspiration from people and things around me. I will be going through something difficult emotionally, and then I feel I want to write a blog post about it. Or an event that I attend, and feel I want to write about it. Anything really.
That’s it for all the questions! I hope you enjoyed this tag!
Until the next one
Live in Light and Love ❤
