Travel Diaries: Girls Trip Magaliesburg

Mount Grace- African Pride

So I know I have been gone for quite a while, I must admit, as I write this post, I’m EXHAUSTED. This has BY FAR been the busiest December month for travelling since, well…EVER!

I have taken four trips in total, with just one more in the next few days, but I must admit, I’m glad its all done! Shew! The memories of course were EPIC, but living out of your bag isn’t fun when you’ve done 4 trips in one month! Home is still home 🙂

So at the beginning of December, I took a trip with my girlfriends, as we do on a yearly basis, to go somewhere and just relax. This is not only a reward to ourselves for working hard all year, but purely just something we THOROUGHLY enjoy to do. We always say, that a good trip, making memories, FAR outweighs going crazy and spending tons of money on a night out… Priorities right?

So we took a short 45mins-1hr drive to Mount Grace, a beautiful scenic little haven in Magaliesburg, and MAN were we impressed when we got there. A beautiful, quiet place, PERFECT for what we wanted. Which was just to relax. We booked 2 rooms, and were on our way… This place was one of the best places we’ve been to together, if not the best.

Not only was the decor, the surroundings, design of the place (architecture) out of this world, but so was everything that came with it! You can imagine how happy we were when we got there!

We stayed in one of the Villas at the hotel, and we were nothing short of blown away at the decor, and the service we received during our stay. A majestic and peaceful place, but we also appreciated the modern touch, that makes it comfortable for people of all ages to come and stay. You can imagine, at this point we were SUPER chuffed!

Not only were we in a beautiful place, but we happened to be slap bang in the middle of a heritage site, the “Cradle of Humankind”… If you are not familiar with this place, google it, it is a big part of South African history. Of course the next day, was “excursion day” and we took a drive to maropeng, where we learned a little more on the history of humankind, through a very detailed tour, learned more about “Mrs Ples”, a well known South African historical figure, and ended off our tour on an underground boat ride… Highlight of our day 🙂

Here’s a few snaps I took of that day…

Mind you, I was behind the camera most of the time, so there won’t be much images of me, lol. I love to go to a place, and learn something about that place, and Maropeng, gave us a great South African History Lesson, but more importantly, gave us a short insight to the beginning of time…

The underground boat water ride, showed us the for elements of nature, FIRE, EARTH, AIR and WATER. It was a little frightening at first, thinking pitch black and water, but soon become quite the exciting journey!

After this 1hr30min tour, we decided to leave, grab some lunch, and head back to the hotel where we spent some time doing… nothing! That was the best part. We got some drinks, snacks, and relaxed.

The following day, we took a little drive out to see some of the other hotels we could visit in the future in and around the area of Magaliesburg. One of them was Askari Lodge, which is a game lodge where you can have an opportunity to see the “big five”. The journey to this place was a rather exciting one to say the least, because at some point we were sure we were lost! LOL… nevertheless, when we got there, the view was so breathtaking that i had to take a couple of SNAPS.

In a nutshell, that concludes the girls trip, along with some of the things we did! Mount Grace is a well worth it choice for friends, or partners. We loved each and every moment! 🙂

Until the next Travel Diaries, which is one my trip to Zanzibar, Tanzania, I will see you on the next one!!!

Until then..
