“A woman’s perfume tells more about her than her writing”
– Christian Dior
“Make me a fragrance that smells like Love“
I like to say that Tom Ford once said that “Dressing well is a form of good manners”. I think smelling good should also be considered good manners. Lol, I might be a little impractical i know, BUT, I think perfume and the way you smell (your scent) says sooooo much about you on a “subliminal level”.
I see it as a way in which you describe yourself to the world. It’s an extra touch that makes you marvelous to the world.
My belief is once you look AND smell good, you FEEL good too!
So I thought I could share with you some of the scents I love, and have been loving for quite some time now.
Before we go far, I must disclose that I’m not the “fruity” perfume lover. No no no. I prefer heavier and Muskier scents, I think they often “describe” we better than fruity ones do. There are one or two I love, but most of my collection are heavier scents.
They say different perfumes for different seasons.
I say, wear WHATEVER perfume you like, WHEN you like ❤ 🙂
Now I am horrible at describing notes from perfumes, so I will quote the respective notes from their websites.
Chanel No. 5-
“The eau de parfum draws inspiration from the parfum with which it shares its floral aldehyde signature. This floral bouquet composed around May Rose and Jasmine features bright citrus top notes. Aldehydes create a unique presence, and the smooth touch of Vanilla an incredibly sensual trail.”
This perfume to me, is one of my favourites. Its classic, its elegant, and for the sophisticated woman. Not too sweet or floral, just a overall lovely scent. Strong too and lasts long on the body.
Gucci Guilty- Black
The scent demands attention with a sparkling prelude of succulent red fruits and an impertinent fist of pink pepper. The mood is youthful audacity. Middle notes:The heart combines the lusciousness of raspberry and peach with a heady femininity of lilac and violet. here is tenderness amid the bravura. Base Notes:The patchouli that is the hallmark of Gucci fragrances here generates a sense of addictive craving, while the voluptuousness of amber suggests deep femininity.”
This scent, embodies “sexy” to me. Its heavy, seductive and ‘guilty pleasure’ as said by the director of Gucci.
I love this scent, especially in the winter time. Even though, I am guilty, I can wear it in warmer months too!
Tom Ford- Velvet Orchid
“Velvet Orchid’s notes include bergamot, mandarin, honey, vanilla, orange blossom, rose, jasmine, narcissus, magnolia, Cattleya leopoldii orchid, heliotrope, rum, suede, labdanum, sandalwood, and myrrh — not that any of these notes stand out distinctly. Even without the gorgeous deco bottle and “orchid” in its name, a single whiff ties Velvet Orchid to Black Orchid”.
There is something very deeply “oriental’ about this frangrance, It’s spicy with the strong sandalwood scent peeking through and myrrh. For me this is not a daytime scent, I prefer it a lot at night time, but I LOVE it!!!
Yves Saint Laurent- “Black Opuim”
“With a glam rock aesthetic, this addictive gourmand floral entices with notes of black coffee for a shot of adrenaline, white florals to instantly seduce, and vanilla for sweetness and sensuality. Playing on the incongruity between the bitterness of the coffee bean accord, an ingredient never used before in such a high quantity in a feminine fragrance and radiant white flowers, BLACK OPIUM gives a sensation of light-headedness, bordering on ecstasy.First there is the wake-up call. The coffee bean note hits you hard, jolting the senses. Next, it becomes softer and more feminine with the white flowers of jasmine sambac and absolu of fleur d’oranger to finish incredibly addictive and emboldened by the ambrosial appeal of vanilla and the woody notes of cedar and patchouli, giving a roundness, depth, and mysterious elegance.
Audacious? Perhaps. Addictive, electrifying? Definitely“.
Ooooooh this fragrance though is cements itself EASILY in my top five!! I love it!! The bottle! can we admire the bottle? A beautiful fragrance, with a slight sexiness to it. The first whiff of it, does actually give you a “light headedness feeling where you feel you might topple over. its feminine but it a rock chick, dramatic way. Also one I wear a lot at night. ❤
Aerin- “Lilac Path”
“Lilac Path weaves a delicate story of crisp greens, rich blooms, and delicate petals. Evocative lilac infuses the scent with inviting depth, heightened by lush fragrant galbanum. Creamy jasmine lactones blend with soft angelica seed oil and orange flower.
“There is something very special about spring lilacs; as fast as they bloom, they disappear. Lilac Path captures the spirit of spring and makes it last.”—Aerin Lauder, Founder and Creative Director, AERIN
This is one of the sweeter and softer scents that I own. For some reason, when I got a whiff of it in Stuttafords, I couldn’t leave it behind. Its floral, sweet and a delicate scent. Very strong, and lasts all day long on you. One of the things I love most about this one. ❤
Tom Ford Private Blend Collection- Tobacco Vanille
“Part of Tom Ford’s Private Blend collection, a smooth, oriental Tobacco Vanille opens with notes of tobacco leaf and aromatic spices, blending into heart notes of tonka bean, tobacco flower, vanilla and cocoa, finishing with sweet fruit accord and sweet wood sap. A complex and smooth scent, it would make a luxurious gift”
My NUMBER 1 scent!!! Iove this scent SO much, I hardly use it! LOL, the fear of running out of it is TOO high! This is NOT a scent for everyday wear. This is a scent when you WANT to make a scene, when you want to turn heads. Everytime i have this one, I get asked multiple times what i have on… Its a complete hit with me, and lasts all day. If you can imagine the scent of an old man who smokes a pipe, mixed with a vanilla scent in his cologne, you have Tobacco Vanille!
